Today I offer a simple practice to help you and perhaps those you love start each day well.
Each morning as you awaken take just a few minutes to reflect on someone in your life for who you feel love. It may be a friend, a partner or a relative but it is someone important to you and with whom you have a close relationship.
As you reflect on this person, connect with the love you feel for them. Hold an image of that person in your mind for a minute and feel the love you hold. See that person going about this new day and offer them both your love and a wish for the day. Here is an example:
“Lori, I love you and wish you a peaceful day”
As well as the love the additional wish may be peace, joy, happiness, success, fun, or anything that comes to you that might be appropriate for that person on this day.
Next, you deliver your loving wish. You can do this in person, in a text, or with a call depending on location and appropriateness in your and their situation. If you live in the same household it makes it easy but it’s also nice to send a text message. How often do we get to receive our first text message of the day with an expression of love and a wish for us?
To solidify your practice I suggest to you do it every day for a week with the same person but with a different wish each day. Do this for a start and then evaluate. Each day notice firstly how you feel as you do it and how it impacts your day. Secondly, notice how it impacts your relationship with the person you have chosen.
